Proud of my mom!

November 24, 2009 · Leave a Comment

My mom is an amazing quilter. She is so talented but oh so modest. My mom and dad design and make the most gorgeous quilts. I was thrilled to get an e-mail from her that she was mentioned on Superior Thread’s blog for her most recent quilt. I thought I would brag a little since it isn’t often you get to brag about your parents. To see her most recent quilt, please visit this link for Superior threads. Enjoy!

Mary Margaret and Seth get married at Greenbank Farms on Whidbey Island

October 13, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Mary Margaret and Seth met through a mutual friend at their BBQ. Eventually they decided to get engaged on their sofa over breakfast on a Sunday morning. Their chihuahua and border collie were their witnesses. They chose Whidbey Island for their wedding after spending a lot of time together at Mary Margaret’s weekend house in Greenbank. They spend 2-3 weekends a month there talking, cooking and taking the dogs to the beach. When they were planning the wedding it was the obvious choice. They booked the Greenbank Farm within 3 days of being engaged. It is about a mile from their weekend getaway. The weather was a bit rainy but they were troopers! We did a lot of their portraits outside despite the pouring rain and the ceremony was moved indoors. It was a beautiful wedding and friends and family came from all over the country.

Here is the list of the Vendors:

Toby and Chris get married at Suncadia!

September 27, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Suncadia was chosen by Toby and Chris because of the beautiful location and the family friendly atmosphere.  They have spent a lot of time there, with and without kids, and love being there.  They merged their families together and have 6 children between them. The wedding was beautiful and low key. Gorgeously understated and full of meaning for their special day.

Elk Landing was the house they decided on as their venue, and the Lodge at Suncadia, allowed a place for family and friends to stay and celebrate. They all stayed for a few days and spent time  river rafting, swimming, golfing, biking, and relaxing.

Toby wrote, “The theme for the wedding was “joy, love and a little chaos”.  What do you expect with 6 kids? :)   The wedding went off without a hitch.  Friends and family came from Oregon, California, Idaho, and as far away as Vietnam.  We hired a barbeque caterer and the food was delicious!”

Here are the vendors they used:

Arlen and Benjie Get Married!

September 17, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Arlen wore Benjie's Mothers Dress to the wedding

I met Benjie and his family about 15 years ago when I photographed his Bar Mitzvah. I was thrilled to be asked to photograph his wedding!

Arlen grew up on a farm in rural Nicaragua.  Benjie, after graduation from University, volunteered with an organization called Pro Nica which provided support to the farmer’s coop in Achuapa.  His first stop was a nearby town for some language training.  There he met an American woman who had been volunteering in Achuapa.  She played match maker and told Arlen she really needed to meet this guy. It took one week in Achuapa for Arlen and Benjie to start a romance.   After a year they decided they were committed to each other.  Arlen told Benjie he needed to ask her father for permission to marry her, as was the custom in Nicaragua.  Arlen’s dad was the last to know but everyone colluded to make him think he was the first.  He told Benjie Arlen was an adult and he needed to ask her.  Benjie soon became welcomed into the family and was loved by all.

Benjie returned to Seattle alone and began preparations for Arlen to join him.  After a lengthy visa process and help from Senator Patty Murray’s office, Arlen arrived in May of 2008.  Within a week we held a civil ceremony in the back yard so her application for permanent residence could be filed.  One year later, in July of 2009 they held a Jewish wedding and celebration with friends and family. Rabbi Daniel Septimus from Temple De Hirsch Sinai performed the wedding ceremony.

The Vendors that helped this wonderful wedding were:

Georgetown Ballroom Rocks!

August 12, 2009 · Leave a Comment

I finally had an opportunity to meet with Jerry Chin, the owner of the Georgetown Ballroom today and it is all I imagined. It is a fabulous and funky space that is a relatively new venue on the scene. The space is gorgeous and very functional with two great big rooms, one complete with a stage with red velvet curtains and amazing colorful lanterns, the other space is a great big room which used the be the Mission Theater. They also have a great courtyard out back with wonderful potted plants. Two different dressing areas for the bridal parties. It is my kind of place. I can’t wait to work there! If you are planning an upcoming event, go take a look. I hope you like it as much as I did. They just launched their website so.. check it out. You can also call for an appointment, 206.763.4999. They are happy to meet you.

I am a bit behind on posting current weddings I have photographed. For that I am sorry, but this all takes time. This was the first time I had worked at The Blue Ribbon Cooking School and I have to say, this place is amazing. The staff is very conscientious and the food is unbelievable. Very fresh and unique. I loved the family style seating. A really great place. The flowers were done by the School and so was the dessert which happened to be pudding instead of cake. You see the groom works for Theo’s Chocolate. This couple wanted a full on chocolate pudding fest. They got it! Being gluten free, this is one of the times I was actually able to indulge in the dessert and it was amazing. The ceremony was performed by Rabbi Daniel Weiner of Temple De Hirsch Sinai. The band was The Tropics. The Wedding Coordinator was Liz Weldin.  Aliza’s dress was from The Bridal GardenIMG_5017BW copy.

Ravishing Radish open house at Georgetown Studios.

August 9, 2009 · 1 Comment

I love how when you work at a facility and different people decorate it gives the space a whole new feeling. This is the third open house I, (Dani Weiss Photography) have participated in at The Engine Room at the new Georgetown Studios. I have to say this place is amazing and it is a blank canvas. I loved the grey linens with the yellow Glassybaby’s. It was simple, classy and elegant. The food that Ravishing Radish does is always amazing, unique, fresh and flavorful.  Tallant House cakes are gorgeous. You can see the variety in the styles that Judy creates. The white cake sits on a cake stand by Clara French Ceramics. Izzy Girl had some fabulous invitations as you can see in the photos below. Also present were Bamboo Beats who played the most amazing music. They can get anyone going. The music was terrific.  Dollface Dames does amazing hair accesories, basically pin up girl style. Pedersen’s Event Rental did the tables and linens. U-snaps had a fun photo booth. With vendors like these, how can you go wrong. 001002003004005006007008009010011012013014015016

Gabe’s Bar Mitzvah

August 4, 2009 · Leave a Comment

I have been photographing Bar and Bat Mitzvah’s for the last 19 years. Being raised Jewish helps a lot, especially when it comes to  following the services and knowing all the traditions and Hebrew words.  One of the very first I ever photographed was at Temple B’Nai Torah. That was when the synagogue was still in it’s Mercer Island location. Now it is located in Bellevue in a much more modern space. It allows for many different styles of portraiture. The reception was later in the evening at The Bellevue Westin. They are a top notch hotel with amazing staff and catering. The Bellevue Westin also allows for large group shots to be taken in the entrance to the ballrooms. The starkness of the space has a studio like quality which I love. The flowers were done by Aria Style. The music and dancers was provided by The Howard Group Inc.. This was a really fun family to work with as you can probably tell from their photos.
